My cuisines Cheena, Aali Jan and Muazzam were little kids of 9-10. Like every new born generation, they LOVED thir motherland INDIA.
While watching a cricket match between India and pakistan, an elderly fellow shouted "Imran Khan will hit a Six!", there was ruckus in the house. Kids refused to eat lunch, threw away plates and cried. Cheena, Aali Jan and Muazzam raise hue and cry:
"TELL US WHY YOU SUPPORT PAKISTAN...WHY NOT INDIA?"
"NO, WE WILL NOT ACCEPT IT, TELL US, WHY YOU ARE NOT INDIA LOVER? ...TELL US, ARE WE NOT INDIANS ?, ARE WE PAKISTANIS ?"
Cheena, Aali Jan and Muazzam successfully forced elders in house to appologize and accept that India was their country, and not pakistan.
...This was 1982.
I met these again in 1992...they were all youth by then. "So You love INDIA still?" I asked them.
"NO", they all replied loud and clear.
So what had changed between 1982 and 1992.... read on..
