People inidividually may befriend without caste but put them in their families and society, they are a different animal altogether. Though wealth may not eradicate casteism, a wealthy person from scheduled caste is better off than a poor one. I have still doubts on Rahul Gandh^s leadership. He needs to do much more than just eating.
