The left's delaying strategy worked. Not difficult to guess though. You guys are master craftsmen and you proved your point. You opposed India being nuclear, you opposed to support the cause of Tibetan's right to self determination, you opposed to criticism of Tiananmen square, you opposed to the use of automotion-since during our childhood days-you used to shout " Automotion Anti Nation". God knows when India's major political formulations will club together at least for the Nation's Interest. Polemics is the world of commies, intellectual annhilation is their forte, my apprehension came true that the lefts resorted to delaying tactic, the concerns raised were just an act of deceit like an elephant's task- DIKHANE NE KA KHANE KE LIYE NEHI. I really wonder why Left leaders visit the US during Bong festivals to raise party funds. Hypocricy, thy name is leftism - they defy all kinds of logic, pragmatism, utilitarianism, what bothers them is to protect what is written in hundred years old text. What matters to them is perpetual party interest than being altruistic. But there are some creative Marxists like Bhattacharya and others who understand the importance of going to the people because he needs to win the election for his party. Contrary, the mandarins who enjoy the corridor of power sitting in cosy the ambience of VP or Coffee house need not the support of the people to win any election. Nuclear deal is not the end of world, wait for more nightmares even bullied by China.

i totally agree with you, pardip. Once again, I want to reiterate that why the learned peoples of WB and kerala are choosing these chinese agents as MP. please do not vote for them and they will die their natural death.
Look at the total economy of WB, one will feel ashamed, it is getting even worse than bihar and MP. compare the development of Calcutta with New Delhi, Gurgaon, Mohali, Chandigarh, Ahmedabadm Indore etc.
For the sake of your children and for India, Please donot vote for them in future. Let us pledge not to support CPI(M)) and its variants in future.

Why we limit the comparison to Kolkata only? Why not include the non communist nonleftist Orissa,Chatisgarh,Bihar,UP.Development is not simply related to out dated communism or more outdated capitalism. If Kerala is ahead of Orissa and Bihar in some human develoment index,it is not because of Communism. The same is true in states like Karnataka,Andhra,Punjab.Everything is not because of isms

Dolly, the answer is yes and no.ONLY ISM THAT STANDS OUT IS HUMANISM. however, some isms are deleterious to societal development including communism, fascism, terrorism, fundamentalism so on and so forth. Even forefathers of American system, Abraham Lincoln pointed out the evils of capitalism but greater strength of capitalism lies in learning and adapting to situations and embracing pluralistic democracy as a method of social enginnering. We may differ in opinion-intellectuals should voice their opinions and develop a culture of tolerance, capitalism ensures freedom of expression but concentration of power in this system leads to hegemonistic trends and ideas. Once Castro was asked by one Indian journalist why the difference between rich and poor is least in Sweden and Switzerland instead of earstwhile socilaist blocs including Cuba- he was dumbfounded. Social democracy or capitalism with human face appears to be a pragmatic arrangement as of today with all its imperfections. Who knows a better social system gets evolved over time. Civilization is like a river, keeps on changing its course so that its flow is not hindered. We must develop a society based on trust, tolerance, altruism, spiritual (does not mean only religion)and above all HUMANISM.
