We must wake up NOW!!!!

First, it is heartening that thekid is doing fine.
Then, let's not get too cynical here. Girl's parents can be held for negligence, but I would go after the department (must be a govt deptt) who ordered the digging at the first place and then decided to leave it open.
It his borewell was not required for the time being, then they must have covered it with cement and stones/bricks etc. They should have posted a board there indicating that there is a borewell and keep your children away from it. Nothing of this sort was done.
I am surprised that none of the district authorities where similar incidents have happened in the past, have thought to punish those sitting in the govt offices who were responsible for digging and leaving it open.

We are yet to set aside the responsibilities. We tend to kill the messenger most of the time or someone least culpable to show to the public that we did somthing.

It is about time to identify and tighten the screws around the most culpable.
Thanks.

Why should the girls parents be held for negligence, they were just playing with her.
just any normal parents do.
The first person guilty is the MLA whose project this was.
Shoot him in public then go after the other officials.
Not the parents.

Agreed. Everytime a baby is rescued, the entire matter is forgotten and no news about if the authority responsible (individual or govt) for the borewell was punished. There were several such incidents and a mass operation to survey such borewells are not taken place yet. Looks like this is going to be continuing event in India.
