Indeed the incident will go down in history with shame. Putting some body behind bars in custody is the option available to Judiciary and not to the lawmakers. They can only enquire prima facie about facts pertaining to the assembley operations. The Lawmakers cannot pass judgement on any one excepting themselves as their own actions inside the assembly is not sub judice. They should have referred this matter to the courts for action under law. Otherwise if they were afraid of other facts spilling out of the bag they should have only admonished the erring public servant. Some one needs to put in a PIL against this action of the Maha Assembly so that other lawmakers all over the country should not take up judiciary's role upon themselves. Mr Deshmukh should be brought to the court if the fact is proven that it was he who tried to pressurise the delimitation committee on the Latur consituency. Otherwise this will pose way for all ministers to bull dose their bureaucrats for their suggestions, advise or rulings on cases by discussing it in the assembly and then hauling up the concerned for pressure tactics.
