I don't think your argument is good. You must not be serious defending Nehru giving cold war reasons! Anyways, having outdated russian trucks with empty missile tubes could have been far better options than today's 1) China on our doorstep fearlessly claiming India's NE land 2)China having direct boundry with Pakistan supplying them all support for fight against India 3) China controlling almost all rivers flowing into India from Tibet 4) China supplying arms/money to Left for anti-India activities giving India a permanent headach for how many more years.
Please accept Nehru screwed up big time. And we Indians are and will pay price for long long time to come. Power hungry and shameless Congress under Left and Jihadi blackmail is again behaving like obedient cow in front of China.
We need to think in terms of our country its political expansion and its own regional ambitions. By acting like a cow in the mosaic of so called east dictacted by china and russia is not going to help India at all. India needs to stand-up, firm-up and actaully behave like a world power and not like third world country.

whats the point in arguing about Nehru and China. what was your expectation, nehru should have sent troops to lhasa to protect tibet or what? China was anyway unstoppable and sooner or later we would have to deal with them for NE..

China was unstoppable? excuse me!! even today with all its might and technology US is floored in Iraq. Same thing hapended to unstoppable USSR in Afganistan. Same thing happened to unstoppable nazi germans in rural russia. I agree there might have been initial set back, but Nehru threw in the towel like a coward and behaved like an headless chicken. We Indians are great fighers if ou don't know our history. We defeated 9 centuries of forign invasions. Then what the big deal with chinese?
Now the point of arguing about Nehru and China is: 1) History must be known and well understood and not supressed and manipulated as it is the case in India today. 2) Congress is still making similar mistakes Nehru made in 60s. 3) However ruthless chinese may try to potray themselves they are not at all invincible. There are plenty of ways to to hurt them like anything without having a direct open war. 4) Unless India and its coward leaders learns to be aggressive with China and with our looser neighbours, we can never ever be a world power.

Agreed no one is invincible.But we should also see at what cost USSR got defeated in Afghanistan. Mr laden is a by product of that conflict. It took tremendous effort by all allies to pull down nazies. The India of 50's was not having tremendous resources to pull down China. Agreed There was a setback in we not prepared sufficiently militarily in 1962 and whatever happened is shameful. But now sitting in our comfort zones, it is very easy to say Nehru was this and that. There are many other things which Nehru has done, because of which India is what it is today.

Nehru has done some good things, lets agree he has done many good things. But, unfortunately, the things he never bothered to concentrate on, or the minor setbacks from him are now eating the country.
See, its the balance between result from good doing and bad doing. Which is more? I still think, its the bad doing which is eating us.
So, Nehru failed in his mission and in a way, he made "Titanic" out of India.
