The moderator of Indiaabroad.com should not allow any one individual, whether James or someone else to dominate this site to this extent. His views are clear enough already. He may not be capable of looking at the problem in a serious or reasonable manner. I do not know whether I can either, to everyone's satisfaction. But, at least I am not going to stop with saying LTTE and the Colombo government have, both, adopted terrorist methods. Established governments, even if provoked badly by terrorists, should not use their methods. Colombo has killed as many innocent Tamils and Sinhala (belonging to JVP) people as the LTTE. The human rights record of Colombo is really bad. LTTE was formed in the 1980s, directly as a result of the chauvinistic, high handed policies of the Bandaranaike eras - both the husband and wife team caused this civil war. Sirimavo provoked a conciliatory government of India [conciliatory in taking back so many estate Tamil people who had lived in SL for two or more generations) by seeking to bring in Chinese and American military presence in Sri Lanka. Indira Gandhi, no less determined, no less aggressive, than Sirimovo, responded by helping the LTTE. I think Indira made a mistake. But all I want to do is to highlight the serious miscalculations of the Colombo government. When the Ind.Peace K.F. came, Colombo created, very cleverly, a fight between the Indian army and LTTE. It is indeed a breath of fresh air, to have someone who does not plug the LTTE terrorist line. I am indeed happy the manner in which you have articulated your thoughts. We may not see eye to eye on some issues, but the tenor of your post has signs, for a reasonable discussion.
I read with interest the interview given by S.C. Chandrahasan. But, I found that number of posts here, were simply pro LTTE terrorists, and regurgitating false and fabricated claims.
It is for this reason, and this reason alone that I thought of expressing my thoughts, and to establish to the World at large, that the LTTE terrorists, are by no stretch of the imagination, paragons of virtue, as they are made out to be, by the terrorist supporters.
As said in the main article, the LTTE is the problem and not the solution. The World has finally, may belatedly even, realised this.
The world has realized, that there is no place for LTTE terrorism, massacres, assignations, killings, bombings, ethnic cleansing etc.
We should leave finding solutions to the Govt and respectable Tamil parties. The LTTE has systematically killed the brilliant Tamil intellectuals, and are forcibly claiming to be representing the Tamils. This is once again a myth and furthest from reality.
LTTE terrorists, only used peace talks to arm themselves to the teeth each and every time, and carried out massacres to frighten the Govt and the people. The LTTE has done it too much now.

By their foolishness, LTTE lost over 3,000 (Three thousand) of its best fighters, Indian army lost 1,000 of its brave soldiers. BUT look LTTE lost all support in India, except the fiery speeches some Tamil politicians make in TNadu. Both LTTE and Colombo lost India's active interest and support in finding a resolution. Shamelessly, both are now asking for a more "active" role for India. The price of the way the Indian army was treated by the two sides in SriLanka, will be PAID by both sides for many more years to come. You do not humiliate India and hope to win. We have not forgotten how our PM, Rajeev, was hit with a rifle by a Sinhala soldier. For God's sake, Rajeev was on an official visit. LTTE's subsequent murder of our Premier (I never supported Rajeev or his party) doomed it. There was no way the LTTE was going to win by messing with India. The key issue that Colombo has been evading is: Genuine Autonomy for the Tamils. They have managed to dodge this issue, with Rajeev Gandhi, with the Norwegian mediators and the international community. Even when the LTTE is eliminated from the ground, The Tamil issue of geneuine autonomy will NOT go away. Colombo may find another LTTE springing up. The military prowess of the Tamils of SL should NOT be underestimated. By their foolishness towards India, LTTE is losing this time. Who knows what future generations of SL Tamils can come up with. Therefore, Colombo should grant genuine autonomy. Please, NO MORE TRICKS.
