Wow, I've been reading rediff's news since more than a year but never posted. The only reason I post here is, neither does one poster take the time to agree with the other nor is there one response thread to the topic without containing the "diversity" of India. I'm sorry, but more than anything I'm aghast at the turn of insults because one is of a particular state or a particular religion. I'm an avid reader trying to develop more knowledge base of India's current state while trying to pursue studies in the US. I hope I would get to read more opinions that are topic oriented or atleast knowledgeably argumentative of the same.

The problem is that instead of posting thoughtful comments most persons tend to treat this as a chat site. Insults are freely bandied about. Symptomatic of Indian social aggression perhaps? On the street you find that it is fairly common to swear at strangers for minor reasons. Overseas they use the extended middle finger here we are ever ready to say "Teri Maan ki.........". It is almost as if everyone has a huge chip on their shoulders. Could it be due to the glamorization of violence in movies? The Hero is invariably a chap who can leap backwards for several meters dodge bullets and fling the villains about much like little dolls.
