Romanticizing Lama Theocracy Defies any Logic
by Astute Analyst on Mar 19, 2008 08:32 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

I find that many contributors on this site hate China more than they love Tibetans. Old Lama regime was a feudal regime with massive inequalities and oppression. Whether Chinese provided a better alternative or not is a debatable issue. But romanticizing Lama theocracy defies any logic

I am not a CPIM supporter and am a PhD student in a decent university. I have a deep respect for Buddhism and a great fascination for Tibet's history and culture. My friend, the life of an ordinary Tibetan was horrible before Chinese occupation. It might not have improved under the Chinese rule. But if I were a Tibetan, I would want democracy, neither chinese rule nor Lama rule.
