The best book on the Tibet issue is: Buddha's not Smiling by Eric Curren. It exposes the true nature of Lama order in Tibet. I don't think China's policy of launching personal attacks against Dalai Lama is wise. But Tibetans deserve better leaders than the corrupt Lamas.

I have no love lost for China. I would be happy if Tibet becomes independent. But I don't want corrupt Lama rule in our neighborhood.

Your arguments are well taken. The authors who paint harsh picture of pre-communist regime might be bribed by China. We have to go by the published scholarship on the issue until it is refuted by a superior scholarship.

Dear Astute Analyst - Please take your analysis further. Are you aware of the Chinese propoganda machinery where they pay western authors huge sums to propogate their line of thought. They did it with respect to 1962 Indo-China war and they did it so well that some dull headed Indians themselves started believing that India was the aggressor. So the same I believe is with respect to Eric Curren's book. And regarding corruption - Well that is a social problem rather than a LAMA problem and I hope you also aware that many of the current Lamas are installed by the Chinese.
