BIMARU list has shrunk
by Harsha Kumar on Mar 19, 2008 06:15 PM   Permalink

The main stumbling blocks to India's development now are not BIMARU but the BIU states. Even MP and Rajasthan seem to be showing signs of progress - there are reasonably progressive CMs, and the law of the land exists more than just on paper. The same cannot be said about the infamous 'cow belt' of UP and Bihar where things seem to be coming apart. I sincerely wish people in these places think of constructive solutions to their problems rather than expecting the rest of India to bear their cross. With its huge population, why can't a city like Lucknow create jobs like Delhi, or even Hyderabad? It is amazing that with such vast resources at their disposal, the people of these states have to crowd into Mumbai, Delhi, and nowadays even the South to make a living. This is putting needless pressure on other parts of the country.
