Our democrazy!
by shiva on Mar 14, 2008 06:20 AM   Permalink

We highlight our democracy, but who benefits? There is total absence of involvement of those who matter, who want a change. Many lambast our politicians who seem to go on forever, recycling the same old dirty linen. Why should they be blamed, when the young hardly bother to take charge? Our system functions by default, as the young stay away and throw filth from the sidelines.

Does it show the whole system is so difficult to crack except for the hardened, thick skinned, who can take anything dished out to them? In US many are ready for public office despite the umremitting glare. For our talented, they prefer to look after themselves as their success is mostly despite our system. Many grow up with an eye on the "green card" and others who lose out with "green eyes", letting out frustrations labelling the former unpatriotic.

Going by the sentiments in the net, most are unforgiving. We judge others, blaming the successful as less charitable, the politicians as corrupt, sports luminaries are also not spared. This has given in to a system of selfishness with those who would like to serve the country in political office, on the sidelines. Frankly, who will want to take up the high jobs in the glare of highly critical public? It is better to enjoy our own life on the quiet.

Unless we have a system to attract the best, we will have to recycle our present politicians, who are older than the grandparents of voters. Why blame them when the critics do not even vote?
