The protesters are playing into the hands of right-wing hindu parties. They are drawing even liberal hindus closer to the ideology of RSS and BJP with their intolerance.
We in India would also not be much better than the present day Afghanis if we continue with the religious animosities. Promoting atheism is the only solution to counter religious fundamentalism.
Atleast atheists do not harm or kill others for getting rewards in an imaginary life here-after.

No, he was not an atheist. He had some strange notions about the superiority of his race and that the Germans are born to rule the world. Anyway the atrocities committed by Hilter is no justification for committing atrocities in the name of religions and non-existent gods. Nearly 2/3rds of all wars fought by mankind were in the name of religion.

Wiki answers on Hitler:
The exact nature of Hitler's religious beliefs in adulthood are unclear. He spoke endlessly of providence but didn't attend church. (Like most of the Nazi leadership he had a Catholic upbringing).
The very fact that there are millions of questions floating around on Internet show that there is a case for my argument..
After all, you don't get to hear very often that Pope has embraced Islam... do you? :-)

Hitler was not an atheist, but he was not a Christian either. While he was materialist and rationalist in a lot of things, he also talked a lot about Providence, or Nature, as a sort of mystical force of fate, and he saw himself as somehow destined for victory even when the war was going badly for him, simply because of the purity of his purpose, his strength of will, and his feeling of destiny. I have even read that he believed in reincarnation. To me, some of his quotes and writings make it sound like he worshipped the German national identity. some make it seem like instead of God he worshipped or idealised or divinised Providence / Nature / Fate, with his glorious destiny assured no matter what and in some ways it seems to me like he worshipped himself.

Atheism is characterized by an absence of belief in the existence of gods. This absence of belief generally comes about either through deliberate choice, or from an inherent inability to believe religious teachings which seem literally incredible. It is not a lack of belief born out of simple ignorance of religious teachings.....
But then, will u agree on foll statement? Isn't disbelieving in God the same thing as believing he doesn't exist?...Certaoinly not!!! So I coclude, by mentining Hitler was a FREETHINKER...ie, one who is prepared to consider any possibility, and who determines which ideas are right or wrong by bringing reason to bear, according to a consistent set of rules such as the scientific method.
Also, He always believed in himself, ideas, notions, and followed them considering himself as a god....that means he isnt answerable to anyone for his deeds!!!!!

Nope...believe in god is nothing but faith, and crtainly Fate / Destiny / reincarnation are the result of faith...
When I say, He used to worship himself, that shows he is not Atheist but "monotheistic"...Which says there is only one god and that is me...

Whether Hilter was an atheist or a religious person has no significance. The Country proclaiming "In God We Trsut" even of their Dollar Bills has killed more people than any one else. Search for "War Crime Tribunal" to know more about the atrocities committed by the participants in WW-II, especially Japanse, predominently beleiving in Buddhist non-violence. The less we talk about other religions, the better. Anyway the world has changed a lot since WW-II. There is no proof for the extistence of any god. The so-called holy books are creations of sur-realistic visionaries and are no more serious than Gulliver's Travels or Aesop's Fables. The Paradise filled with "wine, women, water, fruits, etc also existed only in the fertile imagination of some people. So don't harm any one for rewards in an imaginary life here-after.
