Hi Krishna, I will be inputting only the 3rd message to your coloumn ( fantastic, true and yet so sad) going on to prove the apathy that has come to rest in the society as a whole.
In this place had you written a review for a movie, regional or otherwise, your post would have been deluged with love and hate messages alike...however in this case, even the current generation or the "net savvy " generation has chosen to remain mum on the passing away of this emeritus personality.
Ironic isnt it?? Summarizing it in a sadist/fatalist manner: 1. Powers that be dont have the civilty to accord the correct farewell to Sam 2. Current Rank and file of Defense establishment does not care 3.As pointed out the country's Netsavvy population also does not give a *hit...
For someone who was instrumental in the upholding of the soverignity, freedom and the military might of India when it mattered the most...Indians as a whole sure do have a excellent way of reciprocating...
Heres' bidding adieu to Sam an accomplished individual, A military strategist par excellence, A commander with no equal yet and a fantastic human being..who was royally ignored by the Country ....May you rest in peace...
PS: For all the jingoistic morons who would want to waste your energies in accusing me of bipartism, religionalism, personal emotions..well you know which finger i uphold in response and No I do not have a Defense background but am a complete Indian ashamed at that for the way in which Sa

People run behind sensational issues and MTV only because they are not made aware to. How many of us know what SAM did for India? Isn't it the responsibility of the government to educate citizens about the inputs/ efforts made by people like SAM so that they can be recalled any time. The government is busy airing new channels but the content is getting BORE.....

it's not just the case of field marshal manekshaw, parijat..i was speaking of a general phenomenon..our attention span, our patience for more serious issues have decreased..i guess even u would agree.. but nonetheless most of us feel a strange pleasure in criticism...not that things don't deserve being criticised..they do.. but we r supposed to do a lot more than that.. if we r actually as concerned as we believe us to be. All this talk holds for me as much as anybody else..so maybe i should just shut up myself..and do my job properly first. :)
