LISTEN TO THE SCIENTISTS
by Kris iyer on Jun 24, 2008 05:22 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

Thank You, Rediff., for highlighting this submission by three important scientist/administators of nuclear power.
1) The scientists know the "materials used, the processes used and implications with each". We have to listen to them.
2) International lawyers say this Indo-US Deal is one of the MOST COMPLEX they have come across - At least FOUR different parties involved with FOUR different agreement - every agreement INTER-ACTING with each other. With lawyers and politicians, everything GETS COMPLICATED.
3) The electricity produced will be TOO EXPENSIVE. Remember the Enron's Dhabol unit? They were charging the Maharashtra govt., too much and the deal broke down.
4) NO RELIABILITY OF SUPPLY OF FUEL: The scientists have a lot to say on this point. A nuclear power plant without fuel is like feeding a WHITE ELEPHANT, just standing, no use. The power-plant will leak radio-activity, if not maintained properly.
5) This Indo-U.S. deal will KILL all Indian RESEARCH into making our own way with Thorium, mine our own Uranium and ALTERNATIVE ENERGY SOURCES like Wind, Solar Energy.
6) With much less investment, India can produce the same percentage of electricity with SOLAR ENERGY as with Nuclear power. The Photo-voltaic cells are getting better.
DO RESEARCH HERE IN INDIA TO SOLVE INDIA'S NEEDS.
The UPA govt., is a LAZY GOVT.,good only for playing communal /caste politics.
SHOW confidence in our scientists and be patient. The meek shall inherit value with hard-work.
