We must get our priorities right. For strengthening external security, what we need are delivery vehicles in respect of which we are already well ahead in technology. There is no need for wasting our energy in building more nuclear warheads. Our biggest problem now is internal insecurity which includes threats from terrorists of all kinds. The source of all terrorism is poverty. We must therefore adopt civil nuclear energy to help ourselves in our fight against poverty. If we fail to tackle the issue of poverty and be happy about making more bombs, India would lose out not to our neighbors but to our own people who would fight against each other to grab economic opportunities. Be it the Maharashtra Sena or the Gujjar agitation are all reflective of bigger storms brewing silently. It is time that we did something positive to deal with the growing internal insecurity by doing everything to create more economic opportunities so that people do not have to fight for it based on caste, religion, language or anything else that can be used to group graviation.
