Pressure from US
by mahe on Jun 21, 2008 10:12 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

The congress party doesnt have the guts to go against any of its allies especially, locally strong parties like the CPI/CPM. Its the pressure from the US thats making India sign the deal. No country on the globe can go agaisnt the wishes of the US. India is no exception.

I personally think that we need a nuclear co-operation with the US to avoid the global energy crisis, may be it'll help after a few years but we can't evade the ensuing turbulence in our economy due to soaring crude price. If the nuclear deal in the current form does not create a problem for our sovereign status and Kakodar also supports it, we can not rationally say anything against it but as this issue is so sensitive in nature and if Dr MMS is so confident that it'll do only good and nothing bad, why is the UPA government falling shy of putting it forward to the media? If it's so good, I think NDA might support UPA also and we don't have to necessarily look at the interest of China to cancel the deal. In fact, it seems that LF is also split on this issue but as CPI(M) is a anti-nationalist party full of confused people, they may keep anybody guessing till they get their orders from Beijing at some Chink voice.
