The author is mostly incoherent and doesn't know what he is saying. The total crimes committed by the British in India is probably 1% of those committed by Aurangzeb. The way we treat out own countrymen is far worse than the way other countries treat Indian diaspora. Most of the indentured laborers that went to places like FIJI, Malaysia or the W.Indies are lower caste people (mostly SCs). Their lives are a lot better off than those SCs who stayed behind. The SC and ST populations of India are exploited not only by other castes but by their own people. The rich and poor divide is becoming bigger everyday. There is a global food crisis, oil shortage and now fertilizer crisis. REAL serious problems!!! Why should any country bother about people who left it for (in their opinion) better options. The only time India comes to the mind of these people is when they are in trouble.

All good points, but slightly less coherent than what you perceive Rajeev's article to be.
Rich and poor divide exists in EVERY country. SC/STs exploited in India - so what? Every country has the downtrodden. That doesn't stop them shouting (as rightly pointed out by Rajeev) at the top of their voices and extract damages.. (China against Japan etc.) If your father shouts at you, doesn't mean that he is debarred from protecting you when local neighbourhood rowdies attack you.... Or maybe you don't want it to be set up that way?... ;-)
