Article referred to road blockage is one of the reasons for shortage. It never realised how many fertilizer companies are in rajastan, delhi the nerve centers of gujjar agitation. The author talks of 1.1 ton shortage for a big state like karnataka. It lacks any authentic info except it has some finicky header to attract readers.
Fertilizer and pesticide shortage is a regular feature in indian agriculture in every state for last 15 yrs thanks to lazy agri departments and state govts in collusion with MNCs that india has become testing ground for seed varieties.

But shortages seldom lead to protests and protests seldom leadto police firing. Why Home Ministry gave orders to Police to shoot? Is it guilt that all fertilizers diverted to CMs and Home Ministers constituencies?

More often we see police firing happen when the goons / radical elements take over the protests to turn violent, but sadly ending with killing of innocents. It is a challenge for new govt to handle such unfortunate incidents beter way so that they wont recurr.

Vinay Siddama, If you wish to influence your readers, you need to a) avoid baseless rumours b) your statements should be credible. How can ALL the fertilizers be diverted to CMs and Home Ministeres constituencies? The two or three constituencies involved, can the use the entire supply meant for K'taka? When you said, "Shortages seldom lead to protests and protests seldom lead to police firings" - you lost your credibility right there. Do you live in India? Do you read Indian newspapers?
