low credibility
by Kes Som on Jun 12, 2008 09:06 AM   Permalink | Hide replies

Advani's main problem is his complete lack of credibility with the educated middle class / conservative voter. The reason for this is the enormous distance between what he claims he wants to do and what he actually does.

I would not be suprised if NDA wins a majority in the next Lok Sabha but Advani loses (particularly if he contests from Gandhinagar).

Advani and Vajpayee in their lust for power have destroyed an excellent party which everyone feared in the 90s. A party which could have come to power on its own in 5 to 10 years if it remained a roaring tiger than choosing to become a pussy cat just to stay in power and giving in to the pseudo-secular allies and forgetting all its core issues. Advani has still not learnt from Mayawati's rise and Narendra Modi that one should never compromise on their agenda and not surrender before allies and critics just to stay in power. People do not vote for dual personalities and makeovers like Kalyan Singh, Advani and Vajpayee..at least not twice!

In 2008 elections too, BJP will do well if it wins 100 seats and its allies other 50. No question of it getting majority arises unless some miracle happens like Mayawati installing Advani as PM.BJP has no base in UP (78) West Bengal (42) AP (42) Assam (14) Tamil Nadu (39) Kerela (21). So in total 240 seats BJP is out of race even before it starts. Advani is only dreaming and wants his party men to dream rather than work hard to recaputre their lost ground and win allies in UP and elsewhere. Or they are in for a rude shock just like last time.
