You know, India lost the golden chance of capturing PoK and the then NDA government headed by Shri A B Vajpaee could not take a first decision, as to how to defeat the intruders in Kargil and Daras sector of Jammu & Kashmir. Had Indian Government allowed for use of Air Power by way of deploying Miraj 2000 and Sukhoi 30s MKI, the result would be totally different? And infantary casualty could have been much lower than that of highest in our side. The precious and highly trained Army personnel and plenty of Jawan from Bihar Regiment lost while fighting from bottom-line to upward hilly area. This was the biggest ever mistakes were made by the then NDA government's "dhool-mul" policy. My mind starts boiling when Kargil episode comes again and again. If I were in their position, would have had allowed and authorized IAE to first start airpower extensively, then land forces to capture, because with airpower you can achieve 90% goal and can destroy enemy. This is the mindset of NDA, I am telling you especially BJP. Think all, as TOI has not made provision for discussion.

Stupid, Air force was deployed but its cheif Chitnis was relunctant to use Bombs e.g.Neplam & others available in aresnal.If IAF had crossed LOC they were fired at , we lost 2 Planes.If as suggested by you it would had developed full war with pakistan.NDA had done best by killing maximum jihadis & throwing out remaining without giving an inch of Indian territory.Look what Congress had done: -1948 given away 1/3 Kashmir to pak. -1962 given away huge Indian territories Akasi Chin & NEFA -1965 Given away PirPanjal to Paki. -1972 given away huge territories in Rajasthan border won by Indian forces also 100000 captured pakis without asking back POK. Now China is nibbing away indian territory in ArunaChal Pardesh & sikkim & Manmohan is in deep slumber.
