Its a complete waste

Seems like another ploy of DRDO to blunt criticism and buy time. And dont think i am saying this because i am anti-national commie. There should be no shame and hesitation in calling a spade a spade. DRDO has been a colossal waste of public money. My friends work there and all they do is sit at their desks form 10 to 5. They havent been assigned any work at all for the past six months. Worse, when one of them tried to leave after getting frustated for higher studies, they refused to give him NOC and virtually destroyed his career. They choose the best candidates and them condemn their creative minds to a life of boredom.
ISRO stands in stark contrast to DRDO. A lot of blame for this has to go to APJ Kalam, so called father of missile program, who ruled DRDO as a czar for a decade and dragged down each project into the hellhole. Lets be objective and consider what he achieved in his decade long "rule" over DRDO?
The only option is to take away these projects from DRDO and give them to trusted private sector companies. They will deliver far better weapons within cost and schedule.

If nobody in DRDO works, as you claim, them how do you account for the projects which they have completed successfully. Or do you say that they have a 100 percent faliure.
Dr. Kalam worked for ISRO before coming to DRDO. So if you blame Kalam for DRDO, then you should also commend him for ISRO's success?
Mr. Rohit, the matter of fact is both DRDO and ISRO, both have had their fair share of successes and failures. In India, hardly any research goes on in the private sector and the research in many areas are done only in government research labs. After graduating if someone wants to get a good research experience in a non-IT area in India, they have to work in some of these goverment research labs (CSIR, DRDO, ISRO etc.). Working in these labs helps many in the early stages of their careers. They use this experience to go and work abroad or go for higher studies. This explains the high attrition rates of these organisations.

Mr Rohit,
As you mentioned your friend did not get NOC, I believe this is wrong, In DRDO you will get NOC in two months.
Another thing every body is blaming DRDO, DRDO nothing but it consists Indian National ( Not any other country). Our Indian mentality you know(?), So called the creamy brains will not sacrifies their money thirst, and they will opt for software jobs. you know what will they do there ( most of them)? Why don't the creamy brains join DRDO? They can mould the DRDO by sacrifying their money thirst and they can develop good systems for INDIA. DRDO is GOVT organisation you are the leader to steer according our nation interest. You may face some hurdles in the jouney (moulding process) don't give up.
Another issue, you are blaming some individuals also, it is not right to blame the person already he got Bharat Ratna, if you do like you are insulting India.

The creamy brains wouldn't join DRDO. Well read people want more and they get thi in software companies. Software jobs are attractive and well paid and he/she can buy a house, and get married on time.. and give good education to his kids.. and save more money for his future needs... So..it is what it is.

This is the problem. People "the creamy layer" also wants to live like worms, to grow wealthy, have house, marry, have children etc, which is nothing new, whether they are creamy or normal. I wish they be called creamy only based on achievement and making a difference to the Nation, rather than by their taxable status, which rest of us are being anyway. I wish, the scientists are taken based on their interest in research and to make a difference into the science/organisation, and such mentality should be inculcated into the young minds, rather than making them money machines and worms. Also, civil services should be moulded to take in people with service orientation rather than the money making creamy orientation. Then the country will develop.

u think that the guys who join in private companies get the work assigned immediately, even after one year they are on bench. I am sure they would have been asked to learn the system in which they are supposed to work.
But i feel bad for not giving NOC, but i don't think there is any rule for not giving NOC to proceed for higher studies.
