Self dependence....why N-deal
by lekh ram on Jul 31, 2008 11:52 AM   Permalink | Hide replies

one thing i dont understand...y india doesnt make its own breeder reactors and use its abundant thorium.we have to beg for Uranium to the NSG states.

instead of begging NSG(in near future) we should develop our nuclear tech and be self dependant. Then we can supply Th and Nuke tech to devloped nations and make mony.

If we don't sign these we CAN NOT export or import. Since the deal is going through India is already getting export orders from Indonesia, Malasiya, Srilanka, UAE etc for India reactors manufactured in India. India manufactures reactors of capacity upto 600MW at 1/10th of cost compared to European countries. Its a big business opportunity after we sign this agreement

We are in immediate need of energy and doing research on Thorium to use it as an energy source in a cost effective way will take so much of time. Work is still going on, it may take one or two decades to get some positive results on this. Hence we don't have any other option so we are trying to get some uranium.

as per Dr. Kalam, india's research on use of thorium in nuclear reactors is on going and not complete, until success, we need uranium reactors.

we cannot convert Thorium to fuel without american tech..even our close firend..russia isnt going to help..even china has joined and signed all treaties and sub treaties with usa on this nuclear issue...there is no way out ..we cannot live in such isolation ..45 yrs we have lived in isolation with all these islamic and communist false propagandas that america is bad..but the fact remains they are our natural allies..secular and democratic..so its better to seek friendship..there is no national pride or nationalism in this issue..just petty politics..foolish false pride and petty fears..treat this as an business opportunity and learn fast the tricks of this trade..

we have already done couple to nuclear tests and we are pretty confident about our nuclear capabilities in our arms, now for India to be a Super Power by 2020 as per our and Dr Kalam's dream we need power for the current growth of industries also its always better to take side of powerful nation like USA.

brother,to have nuke weapons to a limited extant helps.neboring states like pak n chin will think trillion times b4 attacking us ...but india dont have(n shouldnt have) ambition to becom a weaponary superpower but a economic s'power.people of this country should live happily at the end of the day...what if we all put our enrgy in weapons but don have food to eat and electricity to lite..

taking side of US wont help.look at china...US cant dictate terms to china cos china is a manufactring super power.china nevr boggs down to US pressure tactics.i dont say india should blindly follow china but dint the truth is what we see 2day.
