Can we really expect to feel secure when we know the high tales of the khaki-wallas, the same people who man those cursed police stations, the centre for crime reporting and crime fighting? When rape victims face a harrowing time getting their FIRs lodged, when a grieving parent has a tough time convincing the police personnel to lodge a missing persons FIR about their traceless child, when the same police-walla will respond after an hour after a robbery is reported or an accident by which time the robbers flee and victims die on the road, why do we fool ourselves that these same men would change their efficiency levels and catch few terrorists and save our cities from being blown up? The home minister has been at home for far too long and that is part of the problem. The PM visits, the 'Mata-mahan' Sonia Gandhi visits, Opposition leaders visit places which experience major grief due to terroirimt, but the Union Home Minister stays at home. Just the kind of kind hearted act that extremists are always demanding anyway.
