Some thoughts on the Trust Vote in the Parliament
by Sarita Arockiam on Jul 24, 2008 04:10 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

We all are aware of the importance of July 22, 2008 in the history of Independent India. It was the day the representatives of the people of this country have voted in favour of the national interests. I would like to thank all those who took part in the debates that lasted two days and all the 275 MPs who voted in favour of the motion. Through this debate most of those spoke tried to draw the attention of the Government on to various areas that need immediate attention. Barring a few occasions most of the MPs were well disciplined. It was also heartening to see that the lower house of the Parliament was full.
I was very sad to see those three MPs showing the bundles of notes in the well of the house saying it was the amount given them as a bribe for absenting themselves from the voting. On the first place why did they accept the amount? How could they carry such big bags into the house without prior permission of the Speaker? It is breach of security of the Parliament for which they should be arrested and prosecuted.
Much before the session of the Parliament began already there were accusations that MPs are bought and sold for Rs. 25 Crores. If these three men were really not involved in the horse trading, why did they wait so long for revealing it to the public? If they were honest they should have contacted the police when people approached them with the money and got the culprits arrested. Bribing is a crime, but also a person receiving the bribe is also equally response in this crime.
We do treat the government officials with excess wealth than their income as a crime. The same should be with these minister.

How can a Minister who is representing his constituency take a bribe of a crore as an advance, there should be a CBI investigation on to this.

These 3 ministers should be first jailed for receiving the bribe and they openly admitted this in front of the parliament.

They should be put into all the procedures to identify the person who has given the bribe.

Let us also approach this case logically, it can be these ministers who themselves have tried falsify these claims.

Matter is serious, CBI has to take this investigation and the matter has to be public before the next elections.

Justice should prevail. Bunch of MPs should not be given the liberty to play the fool.

We saw this in Karnataka, wherein just after the elections MLA shifted their strides, and got an minister berth.

What a shame on indian politics.

A complete inquiry on these acts should be done, each elected representative should know that they are responsible for their acts.
