what a load of bull
by aarshabharata on Jul 24, 2008 11:34 AM   Permalink | Hide replies

The nuclear deal is bullshit. I know things look rosy now, with the MPs saying the rural poorest of the poor will get power with this deal and all that. What a load of crap.We won't see the effect of this for the next 8-10 years(which is is the time it takes to set up a nuclear plant) and after that the power we get will be so expensive that the poor will anyway not be able to use it. So what will the govt do? Subsidize it by putting the financial load somewhere else. This is a wrong direction the country is taking, we will all regret it in the long run.

Ask any comman man. People still don't believe that there is only and only benefit through this deal. if it was so, why the money was used to buy the MPs. definately Sonia or MMS didn't spend through their pockets. Then who paid for horsetrading?
There is other side of this deal which neither you nor me knows

I agree that horse trading happens in India and all party does it (congress perhaps most). but this is not the answer to N-deal. governance and policies are two different things.....they will need to combine them.

Nothing is only and only these days.
This might have some shortcomings but largely very positive.
No point in focusing too much on unknown conspiracy theories.

You are off by a bit.
Do you know, even the current reactors are running at 50% utilization?
They will immediately be up at 90% when Uranium supplies start.
Also, current third generation reactors can be setup in 4 years or so.
Nuclear energy is about same cost as gas based electricity. There is no cheaper source India can get which will supply large amounts of electricity(> 20000MW). So relax, and enjoy the progress.

a country like USA which has population of close to 30 Cr is using 20 mln barrel per day of petrol while India with 110 crore of people is using 2 mln barrel per day of petrol. India's middle class is growing in size and so is their demand for energy. It will help the petrol prices rise (with China effect).....and then u will welcome 20 rs per unit of electricity from nuclear or any other sources, because by then petrol would cost much more. coal would be nowhere in site after 25 years anyway. u need not only the nuclear, but all kinds of power in 20 years time.

Bullshit is a good option for generating bio-gas which can run our country when Petroleum prices go through the roof. India has 19 million cattle, which is highest in the world. Indian cattle produce millions of tons of bullshit every year but it has not been tapped so fat. In the cost of one nuclear reactor, 10 community gobar gas plants can be made, that would make electricity from the bullshit that is otherwise polluting the streets of our country. If this experiment succeeds, India can supply bulshit based power plats to the Nuclear Supply Group (NSG) countries and become an energy super power.

ha ha ha...has some merit though....but as I said, we will need as many sources as we can get. energy prices are gonna baloon-up.
