MPs are not puppets ..
by Sanjay Rao on Jul 23, 2008 06:08 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

How could people like Sangliana and Manorama Madhwaraj taken money and cross voted. These people are known for their integrity. I definitly think they beleived in the cause. I think MPs do need the freedom of voting according to their conscience. They are elected representatives and they should be allowed that freedom. This party whip system as part of floor-crossing rule gives no room for anyone to act on their own and just makes elected representatives puppets of party president. Nobody even has the spine to fight against this anti floor-crossing law.

If they want to follow their conscience they should be elected as Independents and should not contest an election on ticket of a political party. Period

People do not vote for MPs because they know them, they vote for party from whom they have gotten ticket... There is no MP conscience..

100% correct...Why should MPs vote for the party... they should vote for the country?

This absurd.... were they elected to serve the country or their party.... they should vote what is good for the country and not what 1 or 2 say in the party....
