@ indiman. You stupid. For your info, religious fanatics exist only in Islam and Christianity. This is the fact but I presume you wouldnot agree.
If I were to agree your logic: I dont beleive it is a sin to destroy the structure in Mecca and Vatican because mankind never benefited from them. Blood flowing all the time in the name of both of them.

A temple is not the same as this rama sethu. A mosque or vatican is not the same. They are all places of worship. they should be respected and protected. Nobody worships this sethu and nobody can go there to worship. You are probably never going to see it in your lifetime and probably not 99.999999% of Indians. I would be the first to oppose it if we where demolishing a temple to create a canal. So stop fooling yourself, acting stupid and trying to fool everybody else. In my opinion you are a religious fanatic because you are insecure about your religion. I am hindu and I am secure about my religion. My opionion on religion is not going to change because of this structure existing or not existing.
