Sethu Project won't benefit Idnia only DMK. Karuna will make 1000 crores a year from dredging companies. Every year 2,000 crores required to keep dredging silt to keep channel open. But no shiiping company ahs approached GoI to negotiate use of channel as no one uses untested waters risking ship that could be starnded in shallow waters. No one in the world ahs attempted digging oceans and risking nature's fury. the tsunami that destroyed Chennai coast would have been worst if the Ram Setu hadn't prevented it from spreading to Kerala. Chennai and coasts will suffer more natural disasters. Oceans shouldnt be tempered with. Ecology and Environment will suffer and people will suffer. Also the channel will only allow medium ships with 60,000 tonne capacity in the waters due to size restraint of channel and not 90,000 tonne and more capacity which form bulk of water shipping. The medium ships are on a phase out and will not be around too much and not many ships will use the channel. Then what is the point?
