I cannot understand the patriotism and loyalty the prime minister is having in going for the nuclear deal. Do we really need nuclear energy which cost much higher than the regular source of energy? Moreover we bow to Americans and admit that we are not capable of doing anything or finding any alternative source of energy with the available resources (like thorium) on a long term vision. Rather than focusing on the outside resources the leaders should have a vision of a sustainable growth which can be very easily done through agriculture using improved methods, and better soil management. In addition country should emphasis on the research and development. Better infrastructures should be provided for that so that we can avoid brain drain. The vision of development in my opinion which these leaders have is that when more and more foreign investment comes we will have better opportunities and living standards. However what in actual is happening is that we are giving all our resources and they sell them back to us and we like idiots feed them with our resources and intellectual capital

Nuclear energy is only costlier than coal of all the non-renewable resources. coal which you probably know has very big environmental costs and is dirtiest source(if you have heard about global warming). Renewable resources have their limits which is why no country has been able to harness them to make them major contributors yet but work is on. 1. Solar - too expensive - 5 times Nuclear. 2. Wind - Limited scope but currently doing better than Solar. 3. Hydel - Big but limited by rivers and no major possibilities in near future.
Thorium is a research project and has been ongoing in India for more than 30 years but we are working in isolation and other countries working together by sharing technology so we are behind. Unfortunately, energy can not be wished into appearing and among all that is available, N Power has most potential which India has not been able to utilize. Which is why Kalam/MMS think India would do better with Nuclear Energy.

Yes, sijin shi It will be like textile industry flourished in Manchester and Liverpool with Indian cotton and finished products were sold in Indian markets. Our thorium will be imported by foreign countries and in return we shall import the finished products to boost their economy. History repeats. Foreign-rule(political) to freedom and back to square one foreign-rule (financial). Gandhiji will hesitate to take birth again for the fear of being assassinated.
