N-Deal
by Rahul on Jul 22, 2008 11:42 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

This is a totally useless deal for India.
There are other means of generating power which will be much more feasible and economical.
Nuclear energy produced will always be very less and will not satisfy India's massive energy demands and the means to acquire it will not be cheap either.
Also this jeopardizes India's nuclear program and internal security as India will be forced to sign the non proliferation treaty and should allow inspectors to visit our nuclear plants.
The only people who will benefit is US corporates as they will sell us nuclear reactors and make billions of dollars.
Does India, a country where 50 % people live on 2 dollars a day need this expensive deal ?
Either way it seems India is fked again because of our short sighted, stupid, corrupt and selfish politicians.

How do you manage to say that this deal is useless? Do you know anything about Energy Resources? 19% of total USA's Electricity is coming from Nuclear Power. 78% of total France's Electricity is coming from Nuclear Power. In the European Union as a whole, nuclear energy provides 30% of the electricity. Do you know how much are percentage means? Take for example USA, where 19% of total electricity is coming from Nuclear Resources, which is equivalent to provide 3 times Electricity that India as a whole use right now. And for your education, this Nuclear Deal is concerened only for Civil Nuclear Program, and does not include Defense Nuclear Program, which allows India to produce Nuclear Bombs at will without any outward inspections. As long as People with your mindset lives in India, People will live in dark without Electricity. Yes you are right in India 50 % people live on 2 dollars a day, but that does not mean that they will not get Electricity. CHANGE YOUR ATTITUDE AND COME ON AND HELP INDIA TO LIVE IN NEW MILLENIUM.

you are paranoid for no reason. This is progressive and beneficial to all parties, why not go for it? Be proud of your country, don't be a crab and pull each other down

Myth #11: India needs more nuclear power to assure its energy future.

Fact: Nuclear power has been virtually insignificant in India’s energy mix in the past, and will be no more important in the future. India has been generating electricity with nuclear reactors for more than 40 years. Yet, reactors supply only 2% to 3% of its electricity today. India has not built more reactors because they have not turned out to be as safe, or as clean, or – most important – as economical as originally thought. Even if India were to achieve a 50% increase in nuclear power generation (which is unlikely) such a step would only increase India’s overall electricity output by one percent at most, and would only increase India’s overall energy output by a fraction of one percent. That is not a significant increase in the energy available to India and would not decrease India’s demand for oil and gas.

so you are pretty much against what our Nuclear scientists such as Abdul Kalam say. Btw, even my elder brother is a nuclear scientist and he believes that it is going to be beneficial for the country in the long run

You have Exposed Your Ignorance.

Abdul Kalam is Not a Nuclear Scientist.
He is a Aeronautical Engineer. A Missile Scientist *by Designation*.

The one And Only, Dr.Kalam is far far smarter than you. And he knows what he is talking about.
Only fools are you Commies. You guys never improve. Compare your old Russia and China with the United states. Who enjoys the highest stanadard of living? They are not even close. We need strong friends and allies. Countries who have strong relationship with the US and the West are doing well unlike your Cuba, N.Korea , Vietnam. Do we need their life style or life style of Japan, and Australia?
