Ignorance about India-Iran relationship history!
by Ahmad Nawaz on Jul 22, 2008 11:50 AM   Permalink | Hide replies

I am an Indian who is 1/2 Mughal and a scholar of Hinduism and Islamic history. I am surprised to see the lack of knowledge on part of those making ridiculous statements about everything on this board. Let me start by stating some basic facts. Pakistan and Iran are and have had and still have a fractured relationship. Pakistan is a Wahabi Militant State funded by Saudis. The Wahabis in Pakistan and Afghanistan under Taliban killed more Shia muslims than anybody else. Iran is a majority Shia Muslim state. Currently Saudis and Pakistan's ISI are hell bent on spreading their brand of religion amongst Indian Muslims who up untill now have mostly been regular Sunni Muslims. Ask any Iranian or Shia Muslim and they would tell you that they would be more comfortable trusting their life over to a snake rather than a Wahabi. This distrust and animosity lead Iran to ALWAYS speak in favor of India's arguemnt about Kashmir at the UN!!!! Iran is the last country that would want Kashmir to be annexed by Pakistan! The Aryans or the High Caste Pundits of Northern India are direct decsendents of Iranians (which literally in Persian stands for Aryan). Iranians being ethnocentric always considered Indians to be off shoots of their own race or their cousins if you may. These three HUGE factors have always and still seem to bind Iranians to Indians.

Sunny Saddam Husain was controlling the Shia majority Iraq using military power. Iraq was the perfect counter balance for Iran.

America did a very foolish and unwanted trouble by attacking Iraq.

Now America has two Shia countries who have come together.

Only positive for America is that the predominantly Sunni Gulf countries hate and fear Iran and Iraq.

Shias trying to convert Sunnis and vice versa. There is no end to this. The time has come for Iranian people to realize that they have been fooled by Arab imperialists and give up this stupidity by apostasizing en masse.

I am sure you yourself worked on that particular thesis. Do you even know the definition of the word "theory." I am not from a madrassa. The term so-called does not need a hyphen. Just so you know proper grammer. If you attended a public Hindi medium school it is hard to know proper English. In your case your Hindi might be worst than English. Where did you go to school that you never learned to write properly? What do you do for a living?

Not many people go into such depth. People have a tendency to generalise everything and thus misinterprit the facts. In that sence, it is a very good responce from you. For a common Indian, Iran is just another Islamic country. But they do not take into account the differences Iran has with its own neighbours, the Saudis, the Iraqis, the Gulf countries and (what interests us the most) Pakistan. Political and cultural differences between Iran and Pakistan have always kept then going on different paths and having different views. Iran's record says that it has always supported India in many international forums, be it on Kashmir issue or Bangladesh war, US Security counsil seat. It has also been seeking a membership of SAARC, which Pakistan does not want for obvious reasons. Its is favour of India to have Iran within SAARC, and counter balance Pak influence. Iran has allowed only few foreign companies to exlpore its oil and gas reserves, and Indian companies (ONGC Videsh, Hinduja, RIL) are amongst them. People should take all this context into account before commenting and generalising everything.

Well said my brother.I too get perturbed by these psudo experrts who make all kinds of irrational statements over this board without any rationality or reasoning with History. They just perceive things from the face value and become judgemental and breed more confusion.

Iran has great strategic importance in the Asian pilitics and the Indian govt is not losing an opportunity to see that the IRAN - RUSSIA-INDIA Axis is not compromised as Iran presents the most important bastion in the islamic world and the Wahabis have more isolated tribal culture with constant conflict as a way of life due to the historical past.

Indias friendship with Iran is deep rooted in history and can never be separated with the USA foriegn policy and their objectives. While personally I dont want Iran to access nuclear military growth but there is no harm in peaceful utilisation of the nuclear energy under strict international monitoring .
