Kanchi seer
by Ramasubramanian Appadurai on Apr 10, 2009 04:48 PM   Permalink

One must not confuse the issues. Here is a "sannyasi" who hobnobbed with politicians on the pretext of settling Ram janma bhoomi dispute. There are three criminal cases running in the courts against him. One for murder and the other two for murder attempts. The prosecution says that he and his disciple Vijayendra are prime accused. It is stated that the victim was a past devotee of the mutt who fell foul with the prime accused. It is a unique case where both the AIDMK and DMK chiefs were in agreement on the arrest of the "seers". If they have been totally innocent, it is simply not possible to make such a formidable amount of evidence, witnesses and paperwork. That too the police would not try to foist a bogus case with so many witnesses. It is reported that the victims in all the three criminal cases are brahmins.
