The author does not seem to understand the world realities.
He is content to be led by other major powers rather than lead the other countries. I dont,for once,think this fellow understands the global order.
The author does not understand that YOU DONT NEED TO BE A RICH COUNTRY IN ORDER TO BE INVITED TO THE GLOBAL HIGH TABLE.(China was a very poor nation when it took the UN security council seat, even shoes were luxury at those time in china)
The author has the same colonial mindset of many others.Looks like his global experience (teaching in London) has only reinforced that problem of his.

Pant is being misread, is being caricatured here, where use of terms like "colonial mindset" is unhelpful and anyhow not applicable to Pant. Pant is a well known academic, with a fine book just released on "Contemporary Debates in Indian Foreign and Security Policy: India Negotiates its Rise in the International System" (Palgrave 2008).
