In 1954..President David Dwight Eisenhower proposed a similar concept of NSG and IAEA..at that time in Loksabha there was a debate..and Neheru said NO to Eisenhower porposal..this was based on the vision of Late Dr. Megnad Saha (Ref. Saha Ionization Law) who was then MP of Calcutta North-West..Neheru told in his speech " The effect of this kind of treaty will be immense in future. Every nations nuclear programm will be wide open to this organisation except a few." Today Congress doing the opposite of what their predecessors did once..

One has to learn from history and must not follow it blindly. Nehru was a great statesman and whatever we are today, it is because of that great man. The policies enunciated by him, was very relevant for his time. But those are not relevant today. For the sake of our children, the Nuclear deal is a must even if we have to remain subservient to the US for sometime. In this context, let me ask whether we were not subservient to Russia during Nehru's time. Nehru was the first international politician to criticize Anglo-French aggression against Egypt during Suez Canal crisis. But same Nehru kept mum during Russian annexation of Hungary which took place only a few years after Suez Canal crisis
