You are wrong. The post of Speaker is always held by the Ruling party (coalition). CPM being an ally was not willing to take ministerial post in the Cabinet, so Somnath was made Speaker of Lok Sabha. Now that the Left has left the Government, it is his moral duty to leave the post he got when his party was part of the UPA. Sticking to seat shows his greed for position.

Who has made him speaker? Without left support , he would have never become speaker. Now that ther are news, he will resign on Aug12th after his forign visit. Is it fair?
Please think seperately , not involving the trust vote reason/session.

Speaker is ofcourse not above the politics. He is an elected CPM MP and once the CPM withdraw their support , he should have left immediately. This incident clearly indictes that all polititians are alike...No one is saint.

Rahul, you are wrong. Speaker, once elected, from any party, has to remain above party politics, after that, for the sake of the parlianment and the country. Marxists have proposed somnath for speaker and others accepted him, only bec he was seen more a nationalist than just a communist. Those who serve as speaker in reputable ways should aspire for posts of VP, Pres. Not for return to party politics. Country should establish sound traditions, in these matters.
