I wonder how many posters on this forum appreciate fully the class difference between the average Rediff reader (with his or her enthusiasm for the Nuclear Deal and all things western, disdain for the Indian political system etc.), and the average person in India (650 miilion of whom are forced defecate in the open -- WHO report from yesterday). With the deepening of democracy in India the monopoly on power of parties such as Cong/BJP led by the urban middle/upper classes is now gone for good. The future belongs to those who can appeal to the poor such as the BSP. The Left should also take note -- too much hobnobbing with the likes of the UPA will open it up to attacks from parties further to its Left. Prakash Karat has saved the Left from this danger.

I am sure you represent the 650 million more than they realize it.
