Mayawati will emerge as the final winner of all this mess. Dalits and Muslims will solidly consolidate between BSP now. Together they constitute over 45% of India's population. It is sufficient to provide enough base to BSP to emerge as a key contender for power. With Left's support, Mayawati has very good chances of becoming the PM next. The biggest losers are SP who have foolishly given away their most significant and largest support base (Muslims) to BSP. Mulayam will regret this for years!

Muslims are equally divided on the opposite fences regarding the deal according to several polls. There are many who hold no opinion regarding the deal. Mayawati is being foolish, so are the left parties by making it an anti-muslim issue. It will not be a vote getter.

It is certain that Mayawati's role in national poiltics will be larger. Whether the UNPA Left gets enough seats to form the Govt after the next election is not clear (though quite possible).
One other possibility is a Cong govt. with a much smaller number of seats which is dependent on the Left support from outside in a more crucial way than now. Of course, for this to happen Manmohan Singh-Chidambaram duo has to go (and replaced by people more acceptable to the Left such as Pranab Mukherjee).
