The draw is nearing and with two days to go before the Congress and the its opponents are both vying for the support of the independent MPs.Though these MPs are yet to declare their stance on the Trust vote vis-a-vis nuclear agreement, at least one has gone with BJP, four are likely to vote for Govt, one is not sure. These fence sitters are trying to bargain hard with all and their vote will go to one block or the other depending upon the offer made to them based on their demands. A certain berth in the Cabinet or a ticket in the future elections or money for that matter are some of the incentives being offered to lure these MPs. The great Indian MP Bazaar is in full business for the past few weeks. The parliamentary democracy is in peril, the way these law makers are conducting themselves in full public view, making a mockery of the great insitution of parliament. The credibility of this institution has eroded every day with no honesty around. There is no commitment to the values the founding fathers held so dear. The father of democracy,Abraham Lincoln may be turning in his grave, the way the democratic principles are tampered with for their own self interest. No one is able to establish that he will value the system most.Every one is selfish,egotist,self-centered,out to prove a point to satisfy himself. The agony is no one appear to be an honest politician. The only one,I could recall was Morarji Desai who never bowed to such a demand even in the dire situation he faced.
