lost opportunity
by vivek on Jul 18, 2008 03:59 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

The moment the Left announced their withdrawal of support, LK should have come forward and declared that in the larger interest of the nation, BJP will support the nuclear deal.
In one stroke, he would have reduced the Left, SP, BSP, JMM et al to non entities and at the same time elevated himself in the eyes of the people. In the next election, BJP's rise would have been certain.
Then again one must understand that statesmanship is absent in today's political circles and so this can only be my wishful thinking.

Dear Vivek How can you expect such a nobel deed from Mr. Advance who is day dreaming to become next PM ASAP

This is a very sensible statement. LK's failure to grab this opportunity to project himself as a forward looking leader (which he otherwise doesn't seem to be) is lost. In the next election he will continue to be perceived as another squabbling politician who doesn't have any special promise for India.
