People are blindly opposing the deal
by abhijeet nandy on Jul 18, 2008 09:18 AM   Permalink

I see some people here like the LEFT in Delhi, Opposing this deal as its supported by Bush. Why dont you judge the deal on its merits and not just because its coming from America? American government supports outsourcing by its private firms....hence many Indians have jobs in MNCs and BPOs....why dont u look at that benefit which came out of liberalization. What did we lose? The Americans lost their jobs!

Some others criticize the deal saying we will have to follow U.S. diktat and follow them into Iran or wherever they attack. WRONG AGAIN.
Just in the last week India has agressively opposed U.S. stand on Iran! This when we r still in a stage before US Congress has passed the deal and any pro Iran stand can anger their senators. Still, Indian government has publicly supported dialogue with Iran. Other misconception, US will control our nuclear facilities....the deal seperates civilian and military facilities, we have full control on military facilities.
Finally, APJ Abdul Kalam, the father of Indian nuclear program thinks th deal is good strategically for India...u think u guys know better?

And for people who say Aerican companies will benefit from this deal, the answer is YES. They are not here for charity. They will provide us what we need and we will pay them a price which is cheaper for us than other alternatives. Its a win-win situation. A deal can be succesful only when both parties are benefitting and in this case US and India both are making huge profits.
