During the drafting of the consitution there should have been an invitation for objections and amendments from the general public before passing it in 1950. Debate should have been there. Many of the present day problems would never have cropped up. 1. Natioanl development policies should be away from politics. When we are going to be a part of US administration in future we should also learn from them. It should be noted that in the interest of US, all the members both democrats and republicans pass a resolution together. e.g. for attacking any country all members say yes. 2. The fractured mandate and the minority mandate politics is also sickening. Only 40 to 50% of the voters vote and each elected representative gets only 20 to 30% of the votes polled. They decide for 1 billion plus Indians. 3. Any elected representative doesnot mean that he /she can go against the wishes of the public who have elected him/her. There should be a local level mandate/referendum in every constituency for nuclear deal. 4.In 2009, along with general elections there should be peoples option (Times group or many newspapers do a survey) for a policy which the general public will have to vote. This means the parliament has to pass because it is the Indian public which says 'Yes' and individual MPs should not have any say because the elected one does what he/she wants to do and it may be against the people of that area. Like why development should occur only at one place displacing some people

And do you think we would have come to this stage so soon. Even without any other parties involved it took 2 years to reach this stage.
