There should be a bar of age for high public offices. Age must have taken its toll on the Speaker. Chatterje forgets that he cannot be the Speaker without being an MP first. As an MP he belongs to the CPIM. Thereore if his party suspends him he ceases to be an MP because he alone cannot command one third as a splinter group. That means he would cease to remain the Speaker. He had better resign and should not lower the dignity of the office of Speaker.

Why Bengal is relgated to insignificance within CPM politbureau despite sending majority of MPs & rootless fellows like Karat & Yechury enjoy power. Bengal is treated by politbureau like Greg Chappel/BCCI treated Ganguly.. Ganguly was Asian cricketer of the year,still he was dropped(much younger than 39 yr old Yunus Khan of Pak).. Somnath is clever and selfish like other left leader, He knows well that that he enjoyed ministry and Speaker(a post of of national importance arena) and their is no chance to become like PM for the left leaders.There may be chances in future that Cong & left may share the PM post for 2 and 1/2 years each then by this move at some point of time may be asked to become PM and get the high honout cremation after death.
