Congress burns midnight candle to retain its power
by mallaiah anchoori on Jul 17, 2008 08:32 AM   Permalink

For Congress,it is the question not continuing in power for the residual period of the term, but more a matter of holding the reins of administration of the country during the last phase, with a view to enjoy the distinct advantage of using the entire governmental machinery in all possible ways.Hence it does not like to take any chances, whatsoever, which, seem, even remotely, dimming their prospects of winning the motion on the D.Day.That is the reason why it resorts to burning the midnight candle.Sonia & co are, therefore, restless through working out all strategies and engaging people in ensuring that no slips are allowed.
It we see the history of all the general elections held ,so far, never there had been a complete polarisation of all the oppositions with a sole motto of defeating Congress. It is these internal differences within the oppositions that always helped Congress & this time too the same is going to happen. Unfortunately these opposition parties make lot of noise and sounds initially only to fissle out at the end exactly at the crucial times as this for some or other reason. The weaknesses of the oppositions are the biggest strength to the Congress party which gained and continues to gain by triangular/multi angular contests splitting the votes.Occasions are very rare where Congress won with considerable majority in direct contest except in cases where either its candidate is very prominent & strong compared to his/her opponent.Congress knows how to encash situations.
