Whom to Spit Upon, Next Time we experience Power cuts?
by All Right on Jul 15, 2008 11:59 AM   Permalink | Hide replies

Energy needs of India are increasing exponentially. India would require 500-600 thousand MW of power by 2030 up from

132,110 at present. Thus nuclear power is one of the way forward for India to bridge this gap.

After oil, natural gas prices are next identified by global speculators for cascading price spiral. Economies of states like

Gujarat who are significantly dependent on natural gas are going to shortly take a huge hit.

Increased price of oil and gas internationally, issues of climate change associated with coal as well as the breakdown of

consensus on big dams has forced the country to re-look the viability of nuclear power.

So the next time we experience load shedding, power cuts, when our industrial growth plunges for lack of power, when

our agricultural growth plunges because farmers cannot power their gen-sets, accentuating global inflationary pressures

etc we will know who to spit on?

Advani and Prakash Karat and their respective parties are going to end up hate symbols among common people of India. With load shedding in Karnataka, people are already spitting on them.

Both BJP and Left are playing with national interest. They have spread fear about the deal to the common public.

Sadly, our voters in India do not think about national issues while voting, they just think about local politics and, they are influenced only by emotional issues, not any developmental issues.

Both Left and BJP may gain in the short-term. But in the long term, when the gap between supply-demand of power grows, then they will face a huge backlash.

In the Left, oldies like Jyothi Basu knows this. In the BJP a host of leaders except Advani knows this. Naredra Modi, Vajpayee, Arun Jaitley, Sushma Swaraj etc They are keeping mum. Instead they send that imbecile loud moth Rajiv Pratap Modi to make an ar*se of himself, opposing the deal.

So I won't be surprised if the BJP walks out of the confidence vote without voting or even abstains

If BJP abstains, then it will be a master stroke.

BJP will allow the Govt. to survive, but eventually be eaten up by wolves like Amar Singh.

BJP will manage to save its middle class vote bank, emerge as a true Nationalist party and win election on a better term eating away the advantages gained by UPA on Nuclear deals and Economic Growth.

Also by abstaining and allowing the Communists to vote against, BJP will create a bigger rift between UPA and the Left.

I too have a similar feeling that BJP might abstain.
