In a blow to the Left, the NDA may actually abstain.
Apparently an internal poll revealed that the party's supporters were quite upset with their opposition to the deal besides dissension within their ranks. Stalwarts like Vajpayee, Jaswant Singh, Narinder Modi and even Arun Jaitley opposes the party's stand, particularly after Brajesh Mishra went public with his support to the deal.
But trigger was provided by Mayawati defecting to the Left. This left the BJP a non-player in UP and without seat contribution from UP, the NDA cannot have a shot at power.
More disconcerting is whether other NDA allies would gravitate towards UNPA.
So the party has asked its leaders not to open its mouth over the deal. This is as a prelude to abstaining or walking out in the trust vote. A defeat of the Left in the trust vote is seen beneficial for 3 reasons:
a. BJP does not want immediate elections b. Once the nuclear deal is put behind, it can consolidate its allies c. It avoids chinks within NDA with parties like Akali Dal, Shiv Sena abstaining or voting with the deal

All Right this time you are wrong. It is the Cong-I and its allies are afraid of elections not the opposition parties!
Cong-I is a clear party by deflecting peoples attention from 12% inflation. After elections these very UPA allies, Commies and Cong-I will join hands to stop BJP to rule India!! Communists withdrew support only after Cong-I getting SP support!! This is a N-deal DRAMA being palyed at the cost of the nation and the tax payers.

But BJP is already prepared for election after the karnataka test. They declared that they will go forward with this deal but with "little change".They already made their stand clear. They cannot step back ward bcoz it is the right time for them to contest. so BJP abstain means it will be out of plitical discussion in india. There will be sure an early election to L.S.d7k a)amarnath issue is in live. b)economic distress is the best poll issue. c)They dont want Left or Cong taking the benifit of the situation if the deal become real. d)Mishra"s remark is an isolated one.It has nothing to do with BJP politics.
