Leftists with moslem votebanks do have a softcorner for pak. So does Advani, from Karachi, age reminding him of early days. In any case, there is no need for antagonism with the new pak tryibg to get rid of mushareff. If Bush had given the saddam hussein treatment to the pak-general who sold nuclear secrets to outsiders, he could have offered a similar deal to pak also, along with india. In that case, leftists and moslems in india would have welcomed the deal, fully. Instead, Bush went to pak and told them they don't deserve the deal given to india, bec of their different proliferation 'history'. Well, displomacy has not been not a very strong point with Bush.
