It is good that P.M.on his own, before being told formally or allowing them to resort to moving a no confidence motion, has opted for seeking a vote of confidence,of coure-at the earliest,a vague thing which gives room for all sorts of guess work & casting naturally all aspersions expected of any opposition party. In stead,he should have given a definite date in the absence of which it could be safely concluded that they want to woo all the susceptible members of parliament of other opposition/ neutral parties & determine/bargain the cost of their support. The horse riding begins now.If the indications of any date after 22nd for the purpose holds any water,it could be any length of time-beyond 12 days. Now again the ball is in the court of the president who should be agreeable to what Dr Singh told.Since president is a candidate of the Congress party,in all probability, and by the fact of issuance of a notification to the effect of what the P.M.told her,it coud be safely concluded that the proposal of Dr.Singh is okayed by her.The opposition parties-especially BJP will not wait for such long;it is keen on allowing least time to Congress on this count. It is,however, but natural for any opposition in such circumstances as more the time allowed, longer the rope, they feel, they would be giving for manipulations. Needless to say,It is time for all the cats sitting on the wall to bargain & earn since all of them want to make hay while the sun is shining. No salvation for Indian politics!
