Nuclear deal and no-confidence motion
by mahendra dalvi on Jul 10, 2008 11:51 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

The PM and Congress could have handled the nuclear deal better if concerned parties as left and even BJP taken into confidence from the beginning. It appeared to be one man show i.e.only PM is in the forfront all the way. If Prime minister had gone public one way or the other most of the fire-fighting and ordeal of seeking trust-vote could have been avoided. Now it appears-whatever may be the outcome-that the parties voting merely for their political expediency and not for merits of the deal which should have been that way. Anyhow let face it and wait for outcome and be wise next time.

Not possible. The Left's objections had been incorporated in the 123 Agreement. And yet the Left says don't proceed with the agreement.

The BJP's opposition is simply to prevent Congress taking the credit for a watershed deal and running away with BJP's urban vote base

My CLONE:

Irrespective of the song and dance (and done in a very poor style, mind you) BJP's urban vote base isn't going away anywhere mate.
