SAD in SAD position
by South Indian on Jul 10, 2008 03:07 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

When SAD say "We really favor the deal, but will vote for BJP" it in essence is throwing egg on the face of BJP !! BJP should be ashamed of themselves, if they have that feeling left with them still..

Well done SAD... glad to hear your opinion at least...

what is that you are trying to say. If SAD is for the deal they should stand with UPA. BJP has not pressurised SAD to vote for them or did horse trading like UPA. within few nmonths the rates on which MPs are bought will come to public knowledge. Crores of rupees will be changing hands. DeveGowda and Ajith Singh will take a big chunk. DeveGowda is waiting till the last day to pull maximum advantage. He is also a South Indian.

I suggest you should learn to analyse the politics. No deal with any country, that too with USA,come as a free lunch. There is some give and take. So obviously India obliged a bit while gaining a bit, although technically India gain a lot in long term. As Moily said today that BJP wants the deal but dont want the credit go to Congress. While that is true, BJP also want to take political advantage from negetive points(the give part) in the deal by saying "Congress geopardised the country security".

With that in mind BJP is watching whether the Congress can muster majority on its own. If yes then its well & good. Otherwise BJP has to give something to get the deal. That is taking some embarassment it will ask (secretly though) SAD to vote for nuke deal. How come SAD got so much of love on nuke deal? Their answer is ready (although they havent given that yet). The answer is: "prime minister is a punjabi and sardarji. so we need to support a pajabi". Remember what reason Shivsena gave when it supported Prathibha Patil and not supporting Shekhavat? That is the precedence SAD (or BJP in a way) is using. Although that situation was much more embarrassing than this one.

Another thing is that BJP doesnt want government to fall now. It wanted govt to linger on because the more it stays there the more number of seats it looses in next election because of price rise & lack of action on terrorism. Unless one is a very smart leader it is hard to sell nuke deal to common man.

And congress doesnt have any such smart & charismatic leaders like Modi. So rest of the failures haunt them in next election.
